Study Guide

The Scopes Trial- high school biology teacher John Scopes was accused of violating the state's Butler Act that made it unlawful to teach evolution.

Prohibition- period from 1920 to 1933, during which the sale, manufacture, and transportation of alcohol were banned nationally.

Flappers- women who wore short skirts, bobbed their hair, listened to jazz, and flaunted their disdain for what was then considered acceptable behavior.

Economic Issues (1920s)- Stock Market crashes which lead to the Great Depression.
